Rahul Demello is considered one of India’s premier and most experienced scuba diving instructors. With a diving career spanning over twelve years, Rahul has taught extensively across India and South East Asia and dived worldwide. He ventured into the realm of recreational diving because of the desire to stay tangibly in touch with his primary passion – the marine environment. After completing his Masters in Marine Biology & Ecology at the Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, Rahul never lost touch with the sciences. However, he chose the less travelled practical path instead of continuing with academia. Over the years, while working as an Instructor, he has helped facilitate scientific research and monitoring programs, collaborating with various national and international researchers, research institutes and NGOs. His acute understanding of the marine environment and his particular teaching style is the most significant contributing factor for building demand for his opinions and guidance with matters related to diving and assistance in marine sciences. He is also working on projects with his wife and partner for the sustainability and development of the Andamans’ local communities, a place he now calls home.
